GBA invited staff past and present, their families and partners to dinner and camping at Lara Wetlands where they provided a “Lamb on a spit” with assorted camp oven prepared veggies, ably cooked by Stu, Jason and Matt B. It was a fantastic meal to follow on from their efforts last year, well done gentlemen. While dinner was being prepared people took the time to enjoy Lara’s thermal pool, throw a Frisbee around or just relax by the camp fire.

GBA invited staff, their families and partners to dinner and a campout at Lara Wetlands where they provided a hearty “pork on a spit” with an assortment of roast veggies and other camp oven roasts, ably cooked by Stu, Matt B and Will. What a fantastic job they did, well done. Simon organised a few “sporting” events such as touch footy and a “left” foot kicking competition.

George Bourne & Associates welcomed back a past employee/friend for a visit. Hans Vermeij joined the firm in early 1958 when it was C.H. Wilson and Partners, working as a surveyor for more than 40 years. He was born in Holland and migrated to Australia after a time with the Dutch Army in West New Guinea. It has been 20 years since Hans has left GBA. He returned home to Barcaldine for a visit and to share some stories about surveying in the tough gidgee timber country. The Outback Regional Water Alliance (ORWA) has taken out the award for water projects under $2 million at this year’s Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia, Queensland (IPWEAQ) Excellence Awards. The ORWA collected the award for its Regional Outback Water Quality Infrastructure Program. The award is recognition for not only the councils involved but also GBA in their role as Regional Coordinator, managing the project and demonstrating best practice and innovation to benefit the Central West region.
The opening of the last section of bitumen road between Boulia and Bedourie at Marion Downs. Opened by Minister assisting the Premier on North Queensland, Hon Coralee O'Rourke 28th September 2017.
Wonderful news for Boulia Shire Council to continue the pave and seal works on the Donohue Highway. GBA are very proud to provide Survey, Design, Cultural Heritage, Environmental and Project Management assistance for these works.
